SS-31 (Elamipretide): Research, Benefits & UK Availability

A mitochondria-targeted peptide researched for stabilising cardiolipin and improving mitochondrial function in aging and metabolic research.

Every Peptify SS-31 (Elamipretide) batch is independently HPLC-tested by Janoshik Analytical (Czech Republic) and ships with the batch-matched Certificate of Analysis.

    What is SS-31 (Elamipretide)?

**Mitochondrial energy research.** SS-31 (elamipretide) is the mitochondria-targeted peptide characterised for selective concentration — over 1000-fold accumulation inside the inner mitochondrial membrane via cardiolipin binding, an upstream research angle distinct from downstream antioxidant cleanup approaches.

Research has examined ATP production, mitochondrial membrane potential restoration, and protection against ischaemia-reperfusion injury across cardiac, renal, cerebral, and skeletal muscle tissues. Aged-model studies have investigated exercise tolerance and cardiac function — endpoints studied at the source of ROS generation rather than downstream of damage.

10mg lyophilised vial. Batch-specific COA included; 99%+ HPLC, independently verified. For in-vitro research use only.

    Key Research Areas

Tetrapeptide that accumulates 1000-fold within the inner mitochondrial membrane via cardiolipin binding — targeted delivery, not systemic scavenging
Electron transport chain efficiency and membrane potential stabilised at the site of ROS production — upstream intervention characterised
Mitochondrial ROS reduction documented at source; mechanistically distinct from downstream antioxidant approaches
Ischaemia-reperfusion injury protection studied in cardiac, renal, cerebral, and skeletal muscle tissue in separate published programmes
ATP production restoration examined in bioenergetic models — energy output endpoint studied alongside oxidative stress characterisation

    How to Store SS-31 (Elamipretide)

    Unreconstituted (Lyophilised Powder)

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For long-term storage, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C. Under these conditions, lyophilised peptides can remain stable for up to 24 months. For extended preservation beyond 24 months, store at -20°C in a freezer.

    Reconstituted (Mixed with BAC Water)

Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, the peptide solution must be refrigerated at 2–8°C. Use within 4–6 weeks for optimal potency. Do not freeze reconstituted peptides as this may degrade the compound.

    General Tips

Always keep vials upright to prevent leakage. Avoid repeated temperature fluctuations — do not leave vials out at room temperature for extended periods. Protect from light exposure by storing in the original packaging or a dark container. Label all vials with the reconstitution date.
